My last run was Tuesday, today (Friday) I swam and tomorrow I'm planning on a rather long ride on the indoor bike to replace what was supposed to be a 24km easy run. Sunday is up in the air, but it looks like pool running, swimming, cycling and non load bearing gym work is in my near future. I think that if I take a week off and cross train only to find out it wasn't a stress fracture I should be able to return to running right away having fully rested the ankle. If it is a fracture then I'm still running Boston, I just may have to adjust my big lofty goals down from a sub 3 hour marathon to participating. Not the end of the world although certainly disappointing as I feel very fit right now and it would seem wasted. Either way, run Boston, fix the ankle later.
I had laser treatment today, the first of 7 sessions crammed into the next two weeks. I'm a believer that it very much helped with my injury two years ago. If this turns out to not be a fracture it should seriously speed up healing. If it is a fracture it won't fix it but will still reduce inflammation and speed healing.
