True to my word yesterday we were very sick of eating out and stopped at the grocery store this morning where we picked up some bread, peanut butter, jam, avocado, tomato and other goodies. That made up our breakfast and lunch today and honestly felt so great compared to restaurant food. Arriving in Eureka California tonight we ate at Eureka Natural Foods which is a grocery store with an attached Cafe. They had a big salad bar, build your own sandwich station and some soup and other vegan goodies. We ate there and grabbed food for the final day on the road tomorrow.
The biggest challenges on this trip have been making healthy choices as opposed to what I'd normally eat at home. I have only managed one run and feel a bit round and pudgy. I'm sure it won't take long to return to my routines when home. Interestingly in the grocery store today we saw some food choices which aren't available in Canada which made us kind of jealous. A lot of it was processed food though so it's probably for the best. As vegan diets become more common so do the prevalence of vegan junk foods.
It's been a great trip. For your next trip have a plan, use the Happy Cow app, stop at grocery stores and have a small cooler and you'll be a happy vegan road warrior.
